Case Study: Marketing an Academy Trust

Here's what the project involved
A secondary boys’ school with a co-educational sixth form had recently converted to an Academy and needed a fresh PR, digital and print marketing strategy. This was a one-year project that entailed: Copywriting (website content, copy for the new Academy Prospectus, fundraising applications, press releases, newsletter and brochures for Print & article writing for Digital Media), Social Media Management, Public Relations (including managing reactive enquires on a national media level) & Creative Content Consultancy.
I created and developed the school’s social media presence on Twitter. This extended to managing accounts for different departments within the school community. The role involved maintaining highly positive relationships with local and national media, weekly press release copywriting and management of all school TV and Radio appearances. A portfolio of 47 articles appeared in printed publications during the academic year. I worked in-house to establish the school’s internal and external marketing, which included termly newsletters to parents, sports and music academies recruitment and sponsorship, development of the new school website content and the copy for the school’s prospectus. I instigated and developed a new Covenant Account Scheme which was set up to financially support the school’s move to Academy status and to closely keep in touch with school Alumni. Responsible for copywriting successful bids for National Lottery funding, grants, bursaries, scholarships and Enrichment School corporate sponsorship schemes.
